The Minister for Gozo, Clint Camilleri, has announced a new scheme to incentivise extended stays on the island by giving tourists up to a €300 discount for their 10+ stay in Gozo

Under the Extended-Stay Incentive Scheme for the Accommodation Sector in Gozo 2023-24, tourists staying in Gozo between October 15, and March 15, 2024, can redeem a 30% discount of up to €300 on their booking, provided their holiday lasts for at least 10 nights.

The bookings must be made at one of the 140 participating properties, which include four and five-star hotels, boutique hotels, and self-catering villas and farmhouses.

The discount is a result of co-financing between the government and the private sector, with an 80-20 distribution.

Minister Camilleri highlighted that the scheme aims to tap into the quieter months, typically post-summer, to sustain and boost tourism.

“Gozo is not just a summer destination. Therefore we are directly targeting the autumn and winter months, when the trend would be for foreign tourism to decrease somewhat after the summer months.”

Ronald Sultana, the Director for Tourism and Economic Development, revealed that they have designed foreign promotion campaigns in collaboration with the international offices of the Maltese Authority for Tourism to further bolster the scheme.
