Renowned Maltese athlete and swimmer Neil Agius is proud to host a first of its kind Ocean Festival, an event dedicated to swimmers from all walks of life and every skill level to showcase the unmatched beauty of the Maltese sea. This exciting challenge will see participants swimming around the island of Gozo, covering an estimated distance of 37 kilometres.

The participating contestants shall set off on this journey from Ħondoq ir-Rummien at 4am. From there, they will swim clockwise around the island. The participants will have to endure two event categories:

A solo swim, where athletes will tackle the entire distance individually, and a team swim, which allows participants to share the effort across the course. The solo swim is a significant test of endurance, requiring competitors to complete the 37 kilometres within a 15-hour time limit. This category has drawn 11 determined solo swimmers, each prepared to face this demanding challenge.

In the team swim category, participants will work together to cover the distance, providing a slightly less intensive but still formidable challenge. One group of three swimmers, and two groups of four and five swimmers each, will take on the course in a relay format, emphasising teamwork and cooperation.
