‘We Deserve Better’: PN MP Alex Borg Condemns Government’s Unfulfilled Promise On Gozo Channel Service

If you were traveling from Gozo to Malta yesterday, you likely waited a significant amount of time to board the ferry, with some people reporting waiting over two and a half hours.

PN MP Alex Borg released a statement thanking the Gozo Channel workers for their hard work and condemning the government’s unfulfilled promise regarding the service between the islands.

“We thank all the workers of the Gozo Channel who tonight are breathlessly running to make up for what the Government promised but did not deliver, a service of the fourth ship that is worth relying on,” Borg wrote on his Facebook page.

“Tonight, students, workers who stay in Malta during the week, families who came to visit their relatives and Maltese who came for the weekend are rightly angry from the many messages I am receiving,” Borg added, referring to the people who contacted him.

“All this is the result of incompetence and empty words. It would have been better instead of the money going to a building whose purpose no one has yet understood, they were invested in a service of a fourth ship,” the MP emphasised.

“We deserve better. It’s time to wake up” Borg demanded in his statement.

Although queues from Gozo to Malta on Sundays might be considered normal, yesterday’s extended wait times were exacerbated by the MV Nikolaos being out of service for dry-dock maintenance until 25th March.
