At Least 20 Killed In Ukraine After Russian Strike, Children’s Hospital Hit
A children’s hospital in Ukraine was hit in a Russian strike that killed 24 people, officials have stated.
At least 10 people in Kyiv were killed in a daytime attack with the city’s mayor confirming that there had been casualties as a result of the blast.
Meanwhile, three others were killed in the eastern town of Pokrovsk and one in Dnipro.
“Different cities: Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk. More than 40 missiles of various types. Residential buildings, infrastructure and a children’s hospital were damaged,” Ukrainian President Vlodomyr Zelensky said.
Zelensky said that the people were trapped under the rubble of the Okhmadyt children’s hospital, explaining that everyone is helping to clear the rubble, including doctors and civilians.
Meanwhile, the health minister said that cancer and intensive care wards had been hit with photos from the scene showing young children sitting outside the hospital as it was evacuated.
Kyiv’s mayor told Reuters that this blast was one of the worst attacks on the country’s capital since the start of the war. He further confirmed that there had been fatalities in the hospital attack with the number still to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, in Kryvy Rih, 31 people were wounded of which 10 were seriously injured, the head of the military administration said on Telegram.
The Kremlin has so far not commented on the attacks but has previously insisted its military does not target civilian infrastructure.
This attack comes as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Moscow for a two-day state visit and is due to hold talks on Monday with President Vladimir Putin.
