Ready To Strike For Climate Justice? Malta Will Answer A Worldwide Call To Action Next Month

If you believe politicians must do more to deal with the pressing problem of climate change, you’re invited to join a strike in Valletta next month as part of a global demonstration.
Thousands of people in several countries, from the United States and the Philippines to Chile and Kenya, have already pledged to organise events on the same date – Friday, 20th September, a few days before an emergency UN summit on climate change. Organisers say it is in on course to be the largest global mobilisation against climate breakdown in history.

And now Malta has joined the movement too, with new environmental NGO Extinction Rebellion Malta calling a climate strike in Valletta during which they will publish a list of as yet unspecified demands to the government and Parliament.
“Our house is on fire—let’s act like it,” says the strike’s call-to-action, referencing the words of Swedish activist Greta Thunberg. “We demand climate justice for everyone.”
“This September, millions of us will walk out of our workplaces and homes to join young climate strikers on the streets and demand an end to the age of fossil fuels,” the event’s call-for-action states. “Our house is on fire — let’s act like it. We demand climate justice for everyone.”
