Ryanair Just Made Your Free Carry-On Bag 33% Bigger

Good news for anyone who struggles to pack light, Ryanair has officially rolled out bigger free carry-on bag allowances across all of its 235 airports in Europe, starting today, Thursday 4th September.

Passengers can now bring a personal bag measuring 40 x 30 x 20cm, which is a full 33% bigger than the EU’s standard free carry-on size (40 x 30 x 15cm). The catch? It still needs to fit under the seat in front of you.

Every Ryanair traveller is entitled to one of these free personal bags. If you’re the type who needs extra space, you can either pay for Priority Boarding to carry an additional small suitcase or opt for checked-in luggage during your booking.

Ryanair’s Chief Marketing Officer, Dara Brady, said, “From today, Ryanair’s new, bigger free carry-on bag is now 33% larger than the EU standard. Our bag sizers at all airports have been resized to accommodate this bigger, free carry-on bag. We hope our customers enjoy these new limits, but anyone who doesn’t comply will have to pay the checked-bag fee at the gate.”

So, while you’ll still need to be smart with your packing, you now have a little more breathing room for that extra pair of shoes or your must-have travel snacks.

Send this to someone you need to travel with.
