Watch: The Era Of ‘Global Boiling’ Is Upon Us – United Nations Chief Pleads For Immediate Action

United Nations Chief Antonio Guterres has pleaded for immediate action when it comes to mitigating climate change, as the era of “global boiling” is upon us.
The month of July absolutely shattered temperatures on a global level, with heatwave Cerberus horribly impacting many countries within the Mediterranean region and beyond.
“Climate change is here. It is terrifying. And it is just the beginning. The era of global warming has ended; the era of global boiling has arrived,” Guterres said.
In light of these realities, he reiterated his call for swift, immediate, and concrete action, directly calling out the fossil fuel industry.
With a Climate Ambition Summit set to be hosted by Guterres in two months time, he has once again appealed to countries to achieve carbon neutrality as fast as possible.
Back in June, the UN secretary general had also said that ‘climate change is out of control’, after the hottest week on record.
Founded in 1945 right after the Second World War by more than 50 countries, the UN’s aim has always been to increase cooperation between countries and prevent further conflict.
On a local level, many records were broken over the last two weeks, especially when it comes to air temperatures and sea temperatures. Wildfires were also reported, as well as multiple bins bursting into flames in public areas.
Up until yesterday, 11 people had reportedly died due to heat-related issues, as patients visiting Mater Dei’s emergency department are currently experiencing waits as long as 14 hours.
Do you think we’ve reached the point of no return?
