‘Today, We Celebrate Love’: Metsola And Engerer Mark IDAHOBIT Amid Huge Strides Forward
Inspirational messages on inclusivity are being shared on the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia by Malta’s politicians and the European Parliament.
“Today is the day to celebrate love, when we stand up loudly and proudly in defence of rights,” said EP President Roberta Metsola in a video posted to social media by the European Parliament.
“Remember,” continued the EP President, “be who you want to be, love who you want to love. The European Parliament will always be by your side.”
Another Maltese MEP, Cyrus Engerer, who has campaigned for a broad variety of issues in parliament – from preventing the exportation of plastic waste to the adoption of more responsible and humane migration mitigation procedures – has also stood out and shown his support for IDAHOBIT.
Engerer shared the history of his IDAHOBIT activism on social media – over the course of more than a decade.
These have included protesting against conversion therapy, protesting for the safety of LGBTQI+ people, fighting for the introduction of civil unions and marriage equality.
How do you plan on celebrating IDAHOBIT?
