“After being handed over to the IDF forces, they are making their way at this time to a medical centre in Israel that was specially organised and prepared to receive them. Their family members will be waiting for them there,” a spokesperson for Israel’s Prime Minister’s Office stated.
Hamas said the hostages were released for “humanitarian reasons” and this was done to restore international goodwill after mediation by Qatar and Egypt.
This brings the total number of hostages released by Hamas to four as two American-Israeli mother and daughter were released from captivity on Friday.
It is estimated by the Israeli government that more than 200 hostages are being held by Hamas after its surprise attack on 7th October.
