Watch: Metsola Praises Malala’s Courage During EU Parliament Visit

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola met with Sakharov Prize and Nobel Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, welcoming the renowned activist to her office in Brussels.

Metsola described Malala as “an extraordinary symbol of courage and hope”, praising her continued work advocating for girls’ education and human rights around the world.

“As the youngest ever laureate of both the Sakharov Prize and Nobel Prize for Peace, Malala continues to be a global voice for millions of girls and young women,” Metsola said.

“Thank you Malala for inspiring the world. For refusing to be silenced. For showing that one person, no matter how young, can spark meaningful change.”

The two discussed ongoing challenges faced by girls’ education globally, as well as the importance of defending democratic values and fundamental rights.
