Watch: ‘The EU Is A Eunuch’: Evarist Bartolo Calls Out US and EU For Supporting Israel
During a discussion on “Israel’s War in Gaza Humanitarian Crisis And Prospects for Peace” hosted by TRT World Forum’s in December, former Minister for Foreign And European Affairs Evarist Bartolo made a very poignant statement which has recently surfaced.
“When it comes to the international organisations we have to be very clear- there is a proverb which says that if you have an ugly face, you should not blame the mirror. And in the case of the United Nations, the ugly face is not the UN,” Bartolo said, adding that the “ugly face” in this case is the United States and the position it has taken to “support Israel and let it do whatever it likes, even against the interest of Israel and Israelis.”
“The US likes to go around the world dressed in the clothes of human rights and the rule of law and democracy,” Bartolo said, adding that “the emperor has no clothes”, referring to the US.Bartolo then moved onto the position of the EU in all of this, remarking that “interestingly, the word eunuch servant starts with ‘eu’ as well,” adding that “the EU has been a eunuch in the harm of the United States’ policy”.
“Until the US can stop this carnage, Israel knows that it can do whatever it likes,” the former Minister continued, stating that to them, “the Palestinians are nothing.”
“We are not killing humans,” he continued, as a lingering silence prevailed in the crowd and amongst the panel.
Bartolo’s statements came as a response to a question posed to him by the panel moderator Imran Garda, who remarked that while Israel is “focusing on their very legitimate trauma- on families and people who were harmed on October 7th”, what is Europe and America’s excuse for giving Netanyahu’s government “a green light at all cost?”Garda asked Bartolo whether these politicians are “incapable” or “unwilling” to take a stand against the carnage.
Throughout the Hamas-Israel war escalations, Bartolo has been very critical of Israel’s attacks on Gaza.
