11 Awesome Things To Do In Malta This November

As Malta eases into winter mode with earlier sunsets and official countdowns to Christmas, November is set to be a very busy month.
These 11 events barely scratch the surface of what’s quickly becoming one of the busiest months in Malta in a while, but they’re perfect to start you off if you love music, the theatre, or just plain partying.
Friday 3rd November: A theatre performance called Lib(r)a
With a name like that, the organisers must’ve known their event was going to attract some attention. As director Martina Georgina explained in an interview earlier last week, however, the reference is actually to the original meaning of the world, which is way less vulgar than the one we know today.
A play with no text or places that focuses on movement, images and sound, Lib(r)a promises to “expose the contradictions rooted within human thought and emotion”.

Saturday 4th November: Chicago electronic music legend Chez Damier performing at St. Julian’s
After a very eventful summer, local promoters OTR are back with another big one. This time, they’ll be bringing Chez Damier, a historic name when it comes to the Chicago electronic music scene.
Friday 10th November: Lacuna Coil live in Malta
Any Maltese person who was even remotely rebellious in the 00s knows exactly who Lacuna Coil are. One of Italy’s most successful bands of the last decade, the heavy metal underground outfit will be making their way to Aria Complex very soon.
Saturday 11th November: An “18++” stand-up comedy show
After his hilarious Laughing At The Truth debut back in 2015, Kevin Naudi is back with another stand-up comedy show. The event was originally set for Friday the 10th, but with tickets to that being completely sold out, a second show was added on Saturday. Get your tickets from here ASAP!
Saturday 11th November: Boyce Avenue live (and unplugged) in Malta
Remember that trio who had completely taken over YouTube a while back?
Well, Boyce Avenue are now set to take the island by storm with their signature acoustic covers.
Saturday 11th November: An alternative rock night at a new bar
The 12th event of a group of local promoters with a love for alternative rock will be going down this month at one of the newest hangouts in San Ġwann, Vintage Souls.
Promising anything everything from Arcade Fire to Radiohead, this one’s shaping up to be a good one for all the hipsters out there.

Saturday 11th November: The return of The Rave
This party right here was a very popular night out a couple of years ago, but it had kind of gone off the radar for a long time. Now, “due to popular demand after a long absence”, it’s back. Playing both nostalgic tracks and modern raves, this is a great excuse to party the night away like the good old days.
Saturday 18th November: The hottest gay bash in town is back
Lollipop‘s halloween party was one for the books, but as November arrives, plans for another big night out are already well underway. The next edition, which will be Lollipop’s 13th, will be going down on Saturday 18th November. Expect the same amount of raunchy monthly fun that has steadily become unparalleled on the island.
Saturday 24th November: The return of one of Malta’s oldest metal legends
X-Vandals are a local thrash metal band that formed all the way back in 1983. 34 long and heavy years later, they’re still going at it, and with no indication of slowing down, will be launching their new album Exhume The Truth alongside punk veterans Abstrass and the much younger (but just as talented) Pyramid Suns.
Friday 24th November: A night of pure, unfiltered techno
With a name like WE ARE Techno, you know exactly what you’re setting yourself up for.
A three-hour ‘hybrid set’ by Maltese techno artist Owen Offset, a couple of DJs from the Belgian record lable Movement Traxx, and local techno veteran Faddy.
If you’ve ever had a Liquid phase, this is the place to be this November.
Saturday 25th November: A 90s extravaganza like no other
The annual appointment with CLASS of 95 is back for a third consecutive year, and this time, the 90s party is going way bigger. Moving to the main area of St. Julian’s Tigullio, the party which has seen 1,000 regular attendees is aiming for an even bigger one this year. The first batch of tickets have already sold out and the second batch are selling fast, so get yours now quickly if you want to relive the best (and worst) of the 90s this November.
Themed costumes are highly encouraged.
