11 Struggles Every Maltese Parent Experiences When Going To The Beach

While we definitely do not hate children (even if we might’ve accidentally created an online civil war on the matter), we understand how hard it is to have children, especially during Malta’s hot and sticky summers. While the beach will help you cool off your frustrations (and keep the little ones  busy for a couple of hours), here are some hassles every Maltese parent has experienced when going to the beach in Malta.

1. Driving for two hours, parking, walking down all the steps of Riviera, finding a patch between all the syringes, dog turds and used tampons, and your child throws a tantrum and wants to go home to watch Peppa Pig

2. The yells of anger you get from random strangers when your child exposes an inch of skin to the sun

3. The moment you’re pleasantly buzzed after having a pint or a glass of wine is the moment your children tries to drown

4. Finding your child playing with a panty liner in the sea and trying to explain why that’s not okay

5. The sunlight reflects off your iPad and you can’t stream BabyTV, so your toddler tries to stop breathing rather than eating their Plasmon

6. Your child screams “BOOBIES!” at the hot topless language student you’re ogling, prompting her to cover up

7.  They want to carry their own ice cream back to base camp, but they invariably drop it in the sand as soon as you hand it to them

This, every single time.

8. You spend three hours building Sleeping Beauty’s castle using sand, water and a Calippo container, when Hugo passes by with his mega yacht and the wave destroys your creation

The pain, oh the pain

9. Getting tar stains (żift) out of bathing costumes might be the toughest thing ever…

10. … until you have have to remove rizzi from feet

11. Speaking of difficult to remove, sand goes everywhere…
