Go ahead and skip leg-day — visit these lush hike trails around Malta and your body will be thanking you for the breath of fresh air and the amazing views.

1. Xemxija Heritage Trail

Get your hamstrings working on the charming Roman road

Along the trail, one can find Megaliths and a Roman Apiary. The further you walk the better it gets — a heritage trail complete with Burial Caves, Cart Ruts, Punic Tombs, and one of the oldest Carob trees on the island.

2. Tas-Silġ

The quaint walk in Tas-Silġ has much to offer.

Tthe beautiful San Niklaw Chapel and the vineyards surrounding it are already enough to feel at peace, but the Neolithic archeological site of Tas-Silġ is truly not to be missed. You can always go down to Marsaxlokk for a seafood platter afterwards anyway.

3. Il-Girgenti

You can walk to this gem from Buskett or Siġġiewi, but if you’re lazy or don’t feel like walking you can just drive to Girgenti.

4. Il-Maqluba

Walk around this giant sinkhole in Qrendi, if you’re lucky you might see our national bird — the area is known as a nesting site for the blue rock thrush.

5. Wied Babu 

Popular among many Maltese people for its amazing views, this valley is also popular among rock climbing enthusiasts.

6. Għajn Tuffieħa

A popular go-to all year round, Għajn Tuffieħa offers up beaches, beautiful hills, towers and the occasional knee-scraping misfortune.
