6 Terrifying X Factor Malta Judges Who Could Scare Off Simon Cowell

Excitement continues to build for the Maltese version of hit TV show X Factor, but one of the things that makes the show so great is its judges. And while hearing sweet comments is nice for the contestants, viewers also like a little drama – and harsh critics give them exactly what they need.

Here are six contenders to be Malta’s Simon Cowell.

1. Mario Vella

We know, he’d never accept – but imagine walking out and seeing the outspoken singer-songwriter staring directly at you. While his criticism of those he liked would probably help them get all the way to the top, if you come in thinking Katy Perry’s Roar is going to impress, he’s gonna give you a rude awakening.

2. Mary Spiteri

As if it wasn’t intimidating enough to perform in front of an icon in the Eurovision, she is also a woman known for not pulling her punches. Mary would let the kids know what she really thought about their performance.

3. Grace Borg

What better way to return to the Eurovision scene than with a job doing what she did for years on end… but this time publicly and on TV.

4. Alan Montanaro

He’s king of comebacks, and seeing as he has loads of on-stage experience as well as talent-show-judging experience, Alan knows what to look for in a star. He will also know exactly how to word his criticism to sound hilarious and fun while you’re on stage, only to realise he was definitely shading you as soon as you go home.

5. Carina

A big fan of the ‘tell it like it is, so they can improve’ mantra, Carina would let the competitors have it, week after week. But if you’re not set straight, how else are you going to improve? We’d just need to run a few checks to check if her ear for music is as sharp as her eye for fashion.

6. Renato

While he may be warm and welcoming to fans, after decades in the business Renato is bound to have some strong opinions on contestants. Plus, he’ll bring his signature flare (and a little sass) to the whole thing, making him even more of a nerve-inducer.
