9 Cool Things You Can Do In Malta With Your Friends If You’ve Run Out Of Ideas
Like any relationship, it’s important to keep things exciting in a friendship. But sometimes it’s tough, because we tend to fall into a boring routine and you and your friends end up doing the same thing every single weekend. You either meet up at someone’s house to eat junk and talk shit, or you go to the same selection of bars and order the same drinks…. and talk shit.
But if you want something a bit more exciting to do with your friends this weekend, here are some ideas.
1. Go to the swings
It was the go-to hang out spot for many of us between the ages of 12 and 15, before we discovered the grown-up world.
But there’s a playground in literally every village on the island, and they’re the perfect place to just let loose and play a bit.
2. Hire some quad bikes and drive around
Just make sure you have enough licensed drivers, and if you don’t have a license, you can hop onto the back of your friend’s quad.
You could even rent the quads up in Gozo for a change of scenery.
3. Challenge your friends to a round of laser tag or paintball
Get your competitive edge on and also maybe get some anger out by fake-shooting all your best friends.
It’s the perfect way to get the adrenaline running and is actually a great bonding experience.
4. Go on a picnic and hike
We might not have that much left of it, but the Maltese countryside is a gem.
And we’re blessed with ample sunshine. So pack your bags with some tasty snacks and venture out of your homes into the wild outdoors.
5. Attempt an escape room
Test your brains, your patience and your friendship by locking yourselves up in a room together.
You can only get out if you work together, and when you manage, you’ll be so proud of yourselves that you’ll want to go back and do it again.
6. Host an arts and crafts session
Fill your living room with PVA glue and glitter and settle down for an afternoon of fun, mess, and being creative.
You could also join a public art class if you think you’re going to need a bit more guidance.
7. Visit a museum or heritage site
When was the last time you visited any of the temples?
It was probably on a school outing 10 years ago. Refresh your knowledge of our island’s history and go and act like tourists for a day. And if history isn’t your thing, you could always check out an art museum.
8. Go wine tasting
Get turnt, but in a fancy way.
You can either go to a professionally organised tasting, or just buy a bunch of wine bottles and try and set one up yourselves. But that’s less fancy.
9. Join a cooking class
Indulge in one of your favourite pastimes – food – whilst also learning how to be self-sustainable adults who can cook something that doesn’t involve a microwave.
