Antigone, a revisited classic in Valletta's beautiful theatre
Set in a Victorian circus, this new production of Sophocles's Classical Greek play is based on Jean Anouilh’s version and is a collaboration between Teatru Manoel, Sharon Bezzina and Tyrone Grima who is also directing the production.
The narrative centres on the tale of Antigone who feels she should defy the authority of her uncle Creon by giving a burial to her brother, one of the rebels of the Civil War. Her principles will cost her life, but also trigger off the tragedy of the death of Creon’s son who is in love with Antigone.
Antigone will be running on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
This year's SAC Soiree will feature the fantastic show Sister Act. Witness the power of music and sisterhood transform problems into opportunities for Deloris and the dwindling nunnery.
