The first weekend in February has a little bit of everything lined up for Malta

From Eurovision parties to end of exam parties to Valletta 18 events, there’s definitely something for every taste going on this weekend.

Here’s some of the coolest events going down in Malta.

Friday 2nd February:

End of Exams Party

It’s finally the end of exams for many people out there, and that can only mean one thing; par-tay.

Good old hip hop at Groovealicious

The popular Groovealicious returns to Funky Monkey welcomes back to blow you away with a full selection of hip-hop and trap music. Digby will be in the jungle keeping everyone hyped and giving you a live show accompanied by Havana 808 resident Supre on the turntables providing the illest tracks from different eras to keep you jumping all night.

Antigone, a revisited classic in Valletta’s beautiful theatre

Set in a Victorian circus, this new production of Sophocles’s Classical Greek play is based on Jean Anouilh’s version and is a collaboration between Teatru Manoel, Sharon Bezzina and Tyrone Grima who is also directing the production.

The narrative centres on the tale of Antigone who feels she should defy the authority of her uncle Creon by giving a burial to her brother, one of the rebels of the Civil War. Her principles will cost her life, but also trigger off the tragedy of the death of Creon’s son who is in love with Antigone.

Antigone will be running on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

St Aloysius Sixth Form’s Soiree: Sister Act

This year’s SAC Soiree will feature the fantastic show Sister Act. Witness the power of music and sisterhood transform problems into opportunities for Deloris and the dwindling nunnery.

Accompanied by a live orchestra, and with several other spectacular items showcasing SAC talent and calibre, this year’s Soiree is beyond the shadow of a doubt, truly and fabulously second to nun and is not to be missed.

Tickets for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday shows might be a bit tough to come by, but another show has been slated for Monday.

Saturday 3rd February:

The Eurovision Song Contest 2018

Ah, of course.

Join the magic of one of the most anticipated events of the year, the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. On Saturday 3rd February Malta will choose its 31st ambassador to represent the islands in the 63rd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. A total of 16 finalists are taking part in the finals, taking place at the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre in Ta’ Qali, vying for the ticket to Lisbon, Portugal.
