The Revival! Malta’s Legendary Muddy Waters Rock Bar Reopens Tonight… But Not In St Julian’s

One of the most popular bars for rock and blues of yesterdecade is finally reincarnating… but not in the exact form anyone really remembers it.
Muddy Waters holds a special place in a lot of locals’ heart for being a place where they could catch live bands performing in the past decades, with its location between Balluta and Spinola in St. Julian’s also earning it a spot in many people’s barhopping escapades.
Now, years after the iconic pale blue doors had closed for good, a new Muddy Waters is opening – blue door, old wooden sign and all. But instead, it’s opening on the other side of the island… right in the heart of Żebbuġ!

Over the past couple of weeks, Muddy Waters’ owner Patrick Spiteri had been publishing updates of the works on the new bar on a dedicated Facebook group boasting nearly 3,000 members. Over the past 24 hours, however, the most exciting update was finally posted.
Muddy Waters will be opening tonight… and it’s set to be a revival the likes of which many of its patrons have been waiting for.
Making sure to christen the new place in proper bluesy style, Kersten Graham and his trio will be handling the opening night duties as of 9pm… and with Muddy Waters’ new location right in the heart of the Żebbuġ pjazza, expect a lively one for old times’ sake.
