This Maltese Group Is Out To Save Valletta’s Skyline
More and more people are calling for Valletta’s skyline to be saved. From environmentalists to artists, Maltese people are worried that the iconic St. Paul’s Pro Cathedral and its spire, set amongst the epic Valletta architecture, is at serious risk. The building is now in desperate need of restoration.
However, one Malta-based group of people are doing everything they can to combat this. They’ve launched a Save Valletta’s Skyline movement, and are raising funds and hosting some cool events to raise awareness on the very real possibility of losing some of Malta’s heritage.
And their next night out, ‘Notions, Nostalgia and Nonsense‘, is set to raise even more awareness.
Their next event in Malta will feature Nicholas de Piro with Alex Manché on the piano presenting a ‘Grande Soirée’ of poetry on the 10th April at the Salesian Theatre in aid of the Save Valletta’s Skyline movement.
“Nicholas has chosen some incredibly beautiful and funny poetry and he along with some other fantastic performers will be reading the poems,” said Lucy Paterson, one of the organisers of the event.
“The poets include Nicholas De Piro, Victor Randon, Dun Karm Psaila, Richard England, Philip Farrugia Randon and Alistair Chalmers. The performers include Vicky Ann Cremona, Marylu Coppini, and Paul Xuereb,” she said.
Notions, Nostalgia and Nonsense will be on 10th April from 7pm-9pm at Salesians Theatre, 45 Guze Howard St, Sliema. Online Tickets are €15. Offline tickets will be available at Casa Rocca Piccola from Wednesday 14th March.
