Malta looks set to experience the year’s hottest day so far with temperatures set to reach up to 36°C around the islands, according to Malta International Airport’s forecast, and the Met Office even issuing a yellow warning about today’s top temperature.

The scorcher of a day comes from a combination of low levels of wind and clouds, mid to high levels of humidity, and a heat spell that originated in North Africa and is currently making its way across the Mediterranean.

Everyone waking up in Malta today

Though the temperature could reach 36°C, it’s set to feel like 37°C

Up until this week, the hottest day of 2018 had been June 12th, where Malta reached 31.4°C. However, those innocent days are long gone, and with highs of 34°C predicted for the coming week, best plan ahead and make sure you’ve got some way of getting relief from the Maltese heat.

And if you think 36°C is bad, just remember that Malta may very well be approaching temperatures of 40°C and over soon enough – best enjoy the great Maltese outdoors while you still can.
