Few things are more inspiring and awe-striking than the Blue Planet series by BBC. Narrated by Sir David Attenborough, it’s one of the most interesting shows to come out in a while – which might be why Melita is bringing two new BBC channels to Melita TV for Maltese viewers to access the show plus so much more.

“We are delighted to have partnered up with Melita to bring these premium channels to Maltese audiences. BBC Studios has a long, well established relationship with Melita who were the obvious choice for being the home of BBC Earth and CBeebies in Malta,” said Simon Cottle, Director of Affiliate Sales for Western Europe at BBC Studios.

BBC Earth features a rich mix of premium factual content, from the stunning, landmark natural history series, to high-octane documentaries.  The channel showcases the work of the world’s foremost factual film makers taking audiences on a thrilling journey of discovery.

CBeebies is one of the most trusted children’s TV brands in the world. Perfect for children aged six years and under, it is the most watched children’s channel in the UK and is the winner of numerous awards with shows like Hey Duggee, Go Jetters and Charlie and Lola.

The two channels now join the over 140 other channels offered by Melita TV.

Among other popular programmes such as Astronauts: The Toughest Job in the Universe, and Meet the Humans – a science series that puts humans under the microscope – BBC Earth on Melita will also air Blue Planet II – an award-winning series on the world’s oceans and the most viewed natural history programme.

“Blue Planet II had been four and half years in the making, was filmed on every continent and across every ocean” explained BBC’s Simon Cottle, “the team visited 39 countries and mounted 125 expeditions with crews spending over 6,000 hours diving underwater.”

Incredibly, the airing of the finale of Blue Planet II in the UK led to a surge of interest in plastic recycling, with online searches increasing by 55%. With the show coming to Malta, the same effect could occur locally.

“This is a step forward in providing a better all round viewing experience to our customers. In addition to BBC Earth being broadcast in High Definition, both channels are being offered with full interactivity. Families will be able to enjoy BBC Earth and CBeebies on whichever device they want, whether it’s at home on their TV or any other screen or on-the-go via MelitaWiFi or our brand new 4.5G network on their smartphone or tablet,” said Mireille Muscat, Head of Marketing at Melita.

Melita users can even take advantage of Melita TV’s 7-day Catch-Up service and record any show they want.

BBC Earth can be found on channel number 419 and CBeebies on channel number 471. You can find some highlights from Blue Planet II by following this link.
