2. A gig for a good cause

This month, local girl band Cryptic Street made the news when they returned to their practice garage to find that most of their equipment (numbering over €5,000) had been stolen. Now, seven Maltese bands and artists have teamed together to organise a one-night music festival in aid of Cryptic Street.

Different artists from the local alternative music scene will be present to rock your socks off, including The Velts, BILA and bark bark disco.

3. The exhibition opening of one of Malta’s most promising young graphic designers

We’ve already made our love for Zack Ritchie very clear.

The young artist’s vibrant work has been featured all over the island, and it’s his latest Pajjiż-tal-Mickey-Mouse inspired Disney-Maltese iconography hybrid pieces that have really left an impact on the population.

Now, Ritchie will be hosting Malta’s Got Some Character, exhibiting his work at Valletta’s Iniala5. The exhibition will include limited edition acrylic artworks which go perfectly with any modern house, bar, restaurant, or really anywhere with a Maltese flair.

7. A legendary club turns 20 years old

If you love techno or have heard a true clubbing phase in Malta, then you know full well the power of Liquid (or you might still refer to it as Vibes).

This weekend, Liquid is celebrating 20 years of pumping beats, dark tracks and endless nights (yes, it really has been there since 1998!). To make sure this momentous day is remembered in style, the club is bringing back some of the local scene’s best artists all under one roof.

8. One of Malta’s biggest bands returns for a very intimate performance

Beangrowers. If you’ve spent more than five minutes following the Maltese music scene, then you know exactly who they are.

Returning for a performance at Sliema’s Hole In The Wall, this time with an intimate twist; the audience will listen to the band via wireless headphones. This performance is limited to 60 people, so either reserve your headphones by sending an email to [email protected] or make sure to get down there early.

9. The ‘Gods of Doom’ descend upon Aria

If you’re looking for a more intense Saturday, doom metal legends Candlemass are gearing up for their performance at Aria Complex (right next door to Liquid).

The night will also feature Maltese giants Forsaken, who will be opening the night at around 9pm.

Sunday 17th June

10. A weekly summer clubbing event kicks off

For many Maltese people, summer doesn’t really start until promoters begin hosting weekly parties at their latest haunt.

Local agency Panthera will be kicking off their weekly bashes this Sunday at Marrakech (Gianpula), for what’s quickly shaping up to be a great excuse to party on a Sunday.
