A Maltese Pope With An Arabic Surname? This New Novel Could Just Be The Island’s Most Controversial Yet

Imagine Archbishop Scicluna ascends to Papacy, changes his name to Ahmed and then slips through security on a papal visit to Israel.

We couldn’t make this shit up… but one Maltese writer just did.

Papa Ahmed is the tale of Malta’s first Pope, who gives up his name for the sake of benefiting another religion and is really only in the Church to find out what’s out there for him.

But when our Heavenly Father who aren’t in heaven just decides to go for a wander through his religious stomping grounds alone, things take an unexpected twist in this thriller of a story that could one day be something closer to reality than we’re anticipating.

When Papa Ahmed doesn’t return and his security are alerted of his escape, the chase ensues.

Roping in the US Secret Services, Mossad and the Papal Security, the search spans a number of countries while, unbeknownst to them, the Pope has somehow wound up in the hands of a jihadi extremist who plans to use him as a protest, strapping a suicide vest to His Holiness with the plan of detonating at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem for all the world to see.

And if that isn’t enough to get your knickers in a twist…

You’ll find Papa Ahmed time-travelling back to the year 33AD, meeting his boss the big J-man mid crown-on-the-head, and we also get a glimpse into his private life when we flash back to his younger years and witness him and his catch of the day, well…

We won’t spoil the rest.

You’ll have to grab a copy for yourselves to find out what else this Pope straight outta Paceville has up his sleeve.
