Minister for the Arts Owen Bonnici has officially introduced Arts Council Malta’s Action Plan for 2024, marking a new chapter of investment and creativity. He highlighted the commitment to fulfilling the National Cultural Policy and the allocation of €5 million to various funding schemes.

“The strategic success enjoyed by Arts Council Malta has resulted from bold and fruitful collaborative efforts with a wide range of stakeholders, both in the public sector and with artists and cultural operators whose dynamism, creativity, and innovation have enriched the sectors substantially over the past few years,” Minister Bonnici said.

Albert Marshall, Executive Chairman for Arts Council Malta, emphasised the Council’s dedication to promoting innovation within Malta’s cultural and creative sectors. Mary Ann Cauchi, Director Funding and Strategy, noted the mature landscape resulting from Arts Council Malta’s continuous efforts.

“We expect the fruits of our endeavours to become even more evident during 2024, with a number of campaigns and collaborations as Arts Council Malta continues to fulfil its mission of furthering creative entrepreneurship,” she said.

The 2024 Action Plan aims to expand and nurture the cultural landscape, focusing on culture  and wellbeing. Internationalisation takes centre stage with Malta’s participation in La Biennale Di Venezia and the upcoming London Design Biennale 2025 Malta Pavilion Call.

Locally, a new concept, Kunsillkafè, will promote dialogue and discussion through a series of initiatives, webinars, and info sessions.
