The Minister for the Arts, Owen Bonnici, attended the Reading Marathon at the Central Public Library in Floriana. This marathon was organised as part of the programme of activities related to the week dedicated to libraries, which coincides with World Book and Copyright Day.

The minister praised this initiative in favour of reading, emphasising that through initiatives like these, awareness and knowledge among children about reading continue to be raised. He also stated that the government is committed to fostering more love for books.

Many authors, librarians, and collaborators read a selection in Maltese from their books, dramas, or poems during the reading marathon, which was the first of its kind. They read continuously from nine in the morning until nine in the evening. Among the readers were people from various fields, including a number of special guests who read their own works as well as writings that have had an impact on them as professionals in their respective fields.

Throughout the day, the atmosphere in the Library remained vibrant until 9 pm.
