If you’re looking for an art fix to finish your weekend on a bang, here are some great exhibitions to catch before another week unfolds.

Here are three shows in Malta and Gozo worth shouting about.

1. A New Gothic – Gulja Holland

It’s your last day to catch A New Gothic, a solo exhibition by the ethereal firecracker Gulja Holland. Situated at Spazju Kreattiv, Valletta, it brings together the artist’s ongoing series of strong, strange and candescent paintings which were completed in the UK, Portugal, and Malta.

The exhibition is curated by Andrew Borg Wirth.

Where: Spazju Kreattiv, Valletta

When: Ends today!

2. Decadence, Now. – City of Art

Speaking of Andrew Borg Wirth, the curatorial extraordinaire is also presenting Decadence, Now.  an exhibition of artworks, objects, music and paraphernalia from the Decadent movement.

Decadence, Now.’ argues that decadence is more than a 19th-century movement or compendium of transgressive themes and images by which it is usually identified; it is a zeitgeist which has been carried on well into the contemporary as it continues to discuss the future of the end of the world.

Reacting artists include Andrew Borg Wirth, Luke Azzopardi, Michael Zerafa & Maria Theuma.

Where: Malta Society of Arts, Valletta

When: 6-7pm

3. Soap To Think With – Norbert Francis Attard

If you’re up in Gozo, finish the weekend on an artistic note by heading to Gozo Contemporary, where Norbert Francis Attard presents Soap To Think With, a sprawling exhibition. The works revolve around culturally-defining moments in contemporary Malta, encapsulated by multi-media works, including, you may have guessed, soap and soap boxes.

Where: Gozo Contemporary, Gharb

When: Until 8pm
