A collective exhibition featuring interdisciplinary works by five artists linked by the theme of Midst is launching soon in Ta’ Qali.

The exhibition will feature the varied works of Emma Agius Attard, Sumaya Ben Saad, Claude Borg, David Borg, and Mariah Borg, curated by David Borg.

All coming from different backgrounds, the artists share their passion for creation. Albeit the differences in media and themes the underlying unifying factor is the theme of complete immersion in the act of creation.

“The title Midst alludes to being caught up in something, caught up in the act of creation,” the artists’ statement reads.

“As creation pours out uncontrollably, the artist is caught in the act of trying to subject the whims of the muse to the techniques and the limitations of the medium.”

“Sometimes the act leads the artists to arrive at the idea previously conceived in their heads, but sometimes creation leads the artists into uncharted terrain.”

“New interesting places that most of the time set a paradigm shift in the final object of creation. This exhibition portrays the whole spectrum.”

“Focusing on the micro-picture through the investigation of  the internal forces present in all of us, that sometimes tear us apart in ways we can never expect.”

This collective work seeks to guide the viewer to explore the dynamics that control the relationships between individuals, which can range from delicate to intense.

Additionally, the way humans engage with their environment is significant; interactions within a space can lead to various responses. The design and organisation of a space can influence, cause, or even foresee human behaviours, contributing to the formation of personal stories.

The exhibition is launching on 12th August and will be open until 26th August at the Gemelli Art Gallery situated at Ta’ Qali’s craft village.

Gemelli Ltd. is a framing shop with a long standing experience in framing all types of art especially fine art.
