Spotting patterns in clouds is a common practice for those meandering the streets on a sunny day, but for one artist in Malta, it also provided much more vivid imagery.
Zouz Al-Mahdi was on the island for a week-long residency at an art exhibition when the infamous ‘knot’ statue caught his eye.
“That statue is the first thing in Malta that caught my eye,” he told Lovin Malta. “It’s the first thing to inspire me to make my usual ‘political commentary’ type of work.”
While here he also captured interesting snapshots into daily Maltese life. Like the taxi drive who had to pull over and ask for directions.
Or this girl who was enjoying feeding the pigeons (probably to the dismay of those around her).
The exhibition has since finished, but Zouz explains that leaving Malta has been “one of the hardest goodbyes”, so here’s hoping it won’t be long till we’re reunited.
