‘Little Rock People’ – Malta’s Quirky Film Festival For Children Is Celebrating Its 10th Anniversary This Weekend
Get your popcorn ready because Malta’s very own film festival -kids edition- is celebrating its 10th year anniversary this coming Sunday.
Little Rock People is devoted to providing a space where children can explore and learn from the world of short films. The festival aims to entertain a younger crowd but is also the perfect opportunity to introduce them to various forms of creative avenues that they can explore and experiment with.
The event begins at 7pm and will run for a full hour of short films that focus on young people and their outlook on life; from animation to documentaries, music videos, contemporary dance and more. This year’s festival will be centred around the environment, and will feature a post apocalyptic lonely video game player, a discussion on plastic, and a Catalunian tradition where the smallest of kids play the most important role.
In keeping with the theme of the evening, the festival will be hosted by none other than 12-year-old Mr Zen Kono, who hosted the festival in previous years.
Once all the films have been screened, kids will have a chance to vote for their favourite short film by assigning a ‘dot’ to the one they liked the most. The film with the most votes will claim the prestigious ‘Golden Dot’ and be crowned the winner of the 10th edition of Little Rock People.
Once the hard work is over, kids can kick back and enjoy a disco for the rest of the night. There is also a bar so parents can enjoy themselves too!
The event takes place at the Msida Bastion Historic Garden in Floriana and forms part of the Kinemastik program, which aims to link local filmmakers to the world of cinema and provides them with a platform to exhibit their work through local screenings and worldwide distribution.
Along with Little Rock People, Kinemastik has many events going on this weekend, all of which can be found on their website here.
