Malta’s First Sex Exhibition Has Opened And It Couldn’t Have Come Sooner
Malta’s first ever sex exhibition was open for just one weekend, where all visitors could enter and come along with them for a ride they won’t forget.
Visitors had the opportunity to consider what their sexual preference truly was at What’s Your Flavour, an exhibition at The Splendid in Valletta.
The exhibition comes from the minds of The Peculiars, which is made up of Maltese artists Hannah Galea, Lonkirkop and Serah Stringer who wanted to explore sex and pornography in Malta’s capital during the Christmas season.
The sexhibition offered a different experience than you’d normally find in a gallery or museum, both due to the content of the artworks as well as the cool and uncensored setting of The Splendid. The works are raw and in your face, and created by two women and a man, they offer a unique perspective into contemporary sexuality, and how fluid it can often be.
Whilst you ponder the possibilities, the artists have suggestions, possibilities and points of view that you might never have entertained or visited, either mentally or physically. The artists behind the works would like you to challenge what you consider is your norm – you might still come back to the same conclusion but, you might also pay heed to your other urges, tingles or reactions.
The beauty is that you do not have to admit to anything, it can still be your secret as you can always laugh it off. Through their exploration of sexuality in the modern age, they hoped to open unexplored avenues within their viewers.
And in case you did get inspired by their artwork and decide to try something new, the artists ask you to “please practice safely”.
