Maltese Artist Will Blast Her Artwork Into Space In Collaboration With Elon Musk
A Maltese artist’s work will be placed in a time capsule filled with art, writing, music and film, and launched onto the moon, in collaboration with Elon Musk himself.
Christine Porter Lofaro will be the first Maltese person to have their artwork launched into space – ”on a personal note, it is definitely a first on many levels, both as a career milestone and also as a Maltese artist”.
Lofaro is acknowledged by the International Guild of Realism as an accomplished artists working in the style of Realism.
Her painting Life Goes On is one of the award-winning paintings at 16th International Art Renewal Center Salon.
Less than two weeks ago, she found out that her artwork was chosen, amongst many others, to be launched into space and placed on the moon – yes, this is actually happening!
”Apart from being very excited to receive this prestigious accolade, I am also very pleased to share that as an award winner, my work was selected to be part of a grandiose project – The Lunar Codex. This is the dream project of the physicist and founder Samuel Peralta, contributing to an archived collection of art, writing, music and film, that will be placed on the Moon permanently,” Lofaro stated.
The Lunar Codex project, founded by Samuel Peralta, is working in collaboration with Space X, whose founder is the one and only Elon Musk.
They will launch a time capsule of 30,000 contemporary artists, writers, musicians, and filmmakers from 145 countries.
“Our hope is that future travelers who find these time capsules will discover some of the richness of our world today. It speaks to the idea that, despite wars and pandemics and climate upheaval, humankind found time to dream, time to create art,” Peralta says.
