Maltese Design Studio Creates Stunning Set For International Fashion Star’s Anniversary
When one of the world’s most sought-after fashion designers trusted the vision of award-winning Maltese designer Jonathan Mizzi to create a set for her ten-year anniversary, the results were incredible.
Organising the massive event for Saloni Lodha in Undaipur (also known as the City of Lakes), Mizzi Studio created an immersive, 1000 metre squared set off the simple brief “Star Wars meets Gaudi meets Indian tribal huts”.
Integrating the celebration of Holi, the annual festival of colour, Mizzi Studio worked with local artisans for just one month to create the walled secret garden in the grounds of the Raas Devigarh Palace hotel. The studio was also careful to use locally-sourced materials in their constructions, from the signature colourful mud-plastered and weaved huts to the futuristic pods celebrating the designs of Saloni.
Each individual design was placed to maximise its surroundings. No matter where a visitor stood
within the Garden, they could enjoy the breath-taking views of the Raas Devigarh and the hills
beyond.
“Only Jonathan [Mizzi] could have taken this blueprint and created something so magical” said the fashion designer. Mizzi Studio is also known for the design of the undulant copper roof over Colicci Café which perfectly married Jonathan’s love for science fiction, animation and Art Deco.
