Multi-Sensory Translation Of Maltese Poet’s Work To Be Exhibited At Infamous Hotel In Valletta’s Gut
Valletta’s Splendid Hotel is hosting a temporary anthology of 100 poems penned by local poet Alfred Grech. This initiative has brought together a number of local artists who work with various mediums in order to create a multi-sensory experience for the audience featuring Grech’s work.
Grech’s ethereal verses will be interpreted from these artists’ perspective in order to create dialogues and discussions in various languages during Erbatax-il Vers.
Some artists, like Maria Pace will be exploring the poems’ narrative through the context of space, while George Scicluna will be interpreting the works through the technological phenomenon.
Julia Camilleri will also perform to shed light on the hidden aspects of the relationship between humans and technological devices. Mark Xuereb will be presenting a Boschesque representation of the dark struggle within one’s soul to keep balance and hope alive, while an allegory of Sisyphus and inner conflicts will be presented by Georgemario. Other artists who will be participating in this event are Maria Galea, Marlon Tabone, Andrea Delicata, Stefan Carbonaro, Janelle Borg and Leona Farrugia.
These explorations will vary from lyrical to visual experiences showcasing a sense of stoic rationalisation in the face of pain and failure.
This dialogue will be exhibited on the 9th, 10th and 11th of September. This project is supported by the Strada Stretta Concept and is under the artistic direction of Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci.
The Ministry for Gozo and Eco Gozo, Gozo Express Services and Valletta 2018 are also supporting this project.
