Fabian Aloise is a critically acclaimed choreographer who has been nominated for several prestigious awards and now, he’ll be entering the Maltese theatre scene with a workshop for Arthaus’ production of Chicago.
Aloise was chosen by Arthaus to lead these masterclasses as an omage to Bob Fosse, the original choreographer of the show.
“The aim of the masterclasses is to focus specifically on Bob Fosse’s legendary style in order to better incorporate it into the show. And Aloise’s work with one of Bob Fosse’s protégés, Ann Reinking, makes him the best for the job. ,” the president of Arthaus Samantha Corrieri Dela told Lovin Malta.
Aloise’s work has been globally recognised through multiple prestigious award nominations including the Olivier Awards which are internationally regarded as the highest honour in British theatre, equivalent to the BAFTA Awards for film and television.
For this award, he was nominated as the Best Theatre Choreographer of 2020. He was also nominated for the 2020 WhatsOnStage Award for Best Choreography and the Stage Debut Award for Best Creative West End Debut, all for his work on EVITA ( Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre) directed by Jamie Lloyd which also won The Evening Standard Award for Best Musical.

“Arthaus aims to provide an opportunity to experience something quite different to what is available on a local level,” Corrieri Dela explained.
Arthaus is a production company and voluntary organisation which aims to be a space for all types of artists to develop, experiment, and form close social connection. As an organisation, it has always tried to instil a sense of community in its members and be as inclusive as possible.
“Arthaus does not only measure its success by the rave reviews it receives on its productions, but also by the sense of belonging and family that is created when crafting one of its shows.”
