Outrage As Malta Fashion Week Banners Torn Neatly From Frames And Stolen

This morning, Malta Fashion Week organisers and employees were met with a surreal scene, when they realised that a number of large banners displaying local photographers’ work had been torn – neatly – out of their frames in Valetta’s Biskuttin Gardens.
“Yes, we totally get that they are nice photos, but anyone wishing to exhibit large print images of this kind should reach out to the photographers in question to purchase,” the Malta Fashion Week’s official social media account wrote.
“It is not OK to do this, this is a criminal act. Please not that the police have been informed.”
Lorella Castillo, a prominent Maltese photographer who’s work was featured in the now ransacked exhibition, took to social media to express her disappointment with the news.
“I woke up this morning and got a call from Adrian J Mizzi saying my photos were just neatly cut out and stolen from Valletta.”
“Thank you for liking them so much, but stealing art is just a criminal and insanely disgusting act. You should be ASHAMED.”
Adrian J Mizzi – Founder and Executive Producer of Malta Fashion Week & Awards – who reported the news to the photographer, took to social media to denounce the theft himself.
“I understand that the photos are beautiful, but to steal them is a criminal, vindictive and despicable act.”
Police were pictured investigating the crime scene.
