A reactionary performance and panel discussion titled Sacred Fruit will be happening tomorrow at Valletta’s Spazju Kreattiv as part of Ġulja Holland’s fourth solo exhibition.
Around two weeks ago, Holland launched her new body of work to the public, featuring paintings that she’s been working on for the last couple of years, touching upon the Anthropocene, among other subjects.
In a reactionary performance, Rieko Whitfield will be performing within the halls at Spazju Kreattiv, amongst and in reaction to, works in Holland’s fourth solo exhibition ‘A New Gothic.’
The practices of Rieko Whitfield and Ġulja Holland overlapped during the time they both spent in London while studying at the Royal College of Arts.
Whitfield is a recent artist-in-residence at the Tate and a graduate of the Royal College of Art. Guests can expect a dynamic and captivating performance that challenges traditional ideas about art and gender identity.
The event will precede a panel discussion moderated by Curator Andrew Borg Wirth, featuring curator Gabriel Zammit, poet and writer Maria Theuma, art historian and researcher Nikki Petroni, and multidisciplinary artist Charlie Cauchi.
The performance will kick off at 7pm on Thursday 27th April, followed by the panel discussion, happening in Spazju Kreattiv’s Space C.
