Ritmu: This Two Day Festival Commemorates Malta’s Unique Musical Heritage

Previously known as Għanafest, Ritmu is the new and upgraded Maltese festival that celebrates all things unique to our heritage. From traditional songs to local brands, everyone who lives on the Maltese islands will love this festival.

Ritmu Festival is all about diversifying the reach and content that Għanafest had. Expanding to include food and artisanal products together with Maltese music, Ritmu Festival is all about Malta and our Mediterranean roots.

Featuring both local and international talent, the sounds of the Mediterranean will be the focus of every single musical act present at the Ritmu Festival.

Music

With artists such as Kantera, Bernie and Pod, Albaluna and Mimmo Cavallaro taking to the stage, audiences will be treated to the sounds of Mediterranean poetry, Calabrian music, and traditional għana.

Although Ritmu did get a rebranding, Għana is still given a lot of importance. Having a dedicated stage called Il-Bar tal-Għanejja, the folk singing genre will still be getting the credit it deserves throughout the Ritmu Festival.

Food

Keeping things super Mediterranean, the food at Ritmu will focus mostly on fish. With fish being such an integral part of our heritage and being surrounded by the sea – the Maltese and Mediterranean diets revolve heavily around fish.

Don’t worry if you’re not a fan of fish as other traditional Maltese dishes will also be available for you to try and taste at the Ritmu Festival.
