WhatsTheirNames Theatre is returning with its latest installment in the popular Shakespeare in the Garden series: a vibrant, innovative take on William Shakespeare’s comedic play ‘As You Like It’.

This time, the production will be held in the picturesque surroundings of Vincent’s Eco Estate, an organic farm located in the Mġarr countryside of Malta.

The series is known for its energy, inventiveness, and the fresh, accessible way it brings Shakespeare to the stage.

‘As You Like It’ is a joyful, coming-of-age tale about love and self-discovery. The plot centres on Rosalind, niece of the usurping Duke Frederick, who falls for the young courtier Orlando.

Following her banishment from the court, Rosalind, disguised as a boy, sets off to the Forest of Arden in search of her exiled father.

In this realm of romance and freedom, she experiences the thrill of self-discovery. This Shakespearean comedy is filled with beloved characters, such as the melancholy Jaques, known for his renowned monologue, “All the world’s a stage”.

The play is brought to life by just seven actors, each playing multiple roles.

These talented performers, some of Malta’s finest, include Becky Camilleri as Rosalind, Nathan Brimmer, Gianni Selvaggi, Tina Rizzo, Sandie von Brockdorff, and Joseph Zammit.

This is the eighth annual Shakespeare production by WhatsTheirNames, a company that has carved out a reputation for bringing Shakespeare. Their most recent production was Romeo and Juliet, performed at the Msida Bastion Garden.

The production of ‘As You Like It’ will run from June 13th to 18th at Vincent’s Eco Estate.

Tickets can be booked online.
