A stunning collage of underwater photos captures freedivers playing on a wreck 18.5 metres below sea level.

Renowned local marine photographer Kurt Arrigo orchestrated the shoot in which three bold free divers plunged towards the seabed, posing and performing acrobatic acts on the edge of a wreck in just one single breath.

The photos were shot in a way that creates the illusion that the divers are throwing each other off the wreck – as if gravity was a consequential factor.

In addition to offering a glimpse into this unique and daring playground, the photos also put into context the hidden beauty of Malta’s seabed which is scattered with rich history.

The vast blueness also highlights the vulnerability of the divers who had to perform acrobatic acts in one single breath, 18.5 metres below sea level…

The illusion of life underwater comes with a certain serenity depicted in Arrigo’s daring photography which comes in both black and white and colour for added effect.
