In A Time Of War, This New Valletta Exhibition Sheds Light On How Inaction Is A Weapon Of Mass Destruction
As the European countries deal with war right on their doorstep, this new exhibition by Darren Tanti sheds light on the role inaction plays within the situation.
‘Inaction is a Weapon of Mass Destruction’ is an art project meant to shed light on the mediatic processes utilised to spread information about the war and its effects on the viewer.
The exhibition kicked off at Spazju Kreattiv on 28th October and is set to go on until 4th December. It will also be shown at Mqabba’s Kamra Ta’ Fuq from 30th October to 4th December.
The work reflects the artist’s preoccupation with the fabrication, editing, and twisting of information people outside the conflict zone might be subjected to.
The dangers arising from this are very serious as they might severely impact public opinion on matters of humanitarian aid and military intervention based on falsities or half-truths.
The project is meant to provoke viewers through a number of analytical, ironic, and at times, cynical works based on factual, fictional images and theoretical work.
Different experts from journalism, film, art, education and the military fields will also be contributing to the project in a number of talks and workshops.
