Malta’s pavilion at the 2024 Venice Biennale is off to a great start, with the tiny islands’ artistic offering being listed as the top 10 “must-sees” at this year’s edition!

Commissioned by the Malta Arts Council, this year’s Malta pavilion sees local artist Matthew Attard presenting his innovative project I Will Follow the Ship.

Attard’s exhibition showcases Maltese cultural heritage through artificial intelligence technology. The co-curators of I Will Follow the Ship are Elyse Tonna and Sara Dolfi Agostini. Maria Galea and Galleria Michela Rizzo oversee the project management, Vincenzo Casali is the consulting expert, and Joey Borg is responsible for project programming and software development.

Now, in its first couple of days, the Malta pavilion has been featured twice in lists of must-see pavilions in the Arsenale, with both The Art Newspaper and Artribune shouting out Attard’s offering.
