Amy Winehouse Biopic Starring Marisa Abela Premieres In London
The much-anticipated Amy Winehouse biopic, featuring actress Marisa Abela in the lead role, had its world premiere in London yesterday.
Marisa Abela’s portrayal of Winehouse has garnered early praise for its authenticity and depth, capturing the complexity and vulnerability of the late artist.

The actress has Maltese roots from her Maltese-Libyan father and spoke about her dedication to portraying the artist accurately.
“You know, I think the most important thing to some of us was just having an actor there to embody Amy and that was the most important thing to me, too,” Abela said during an interview on the red carpet.
“I didn’t want to do anything that even resembles an impersonation of her. You know, I wanted to get her from the inside out,” Marisa added.
The biopic, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, also features actors Jack O’Connell and Eddie Marsan.
Back to Black will be in cinemas this Friday 12th April.
