Big Fish In A Small Pond: Emma Muscat Confirms She Does Not Want To Return To Malta
Emma Muscat has confirmed she intends to base herself in Italy and not Malta, arguing that her home country offers limited opportunities for success in the music scene.
“Malta is a very small island, and although it hosts major concerts there aren’t many opportunities there for singers,” Emma said in an interview with Italian news site Lettera Donna. “I seized the opportunity to take part in the Amici talent show, it went well, and I hope it will continue going well for a long time. I want to stay in Italy for now and I’m certainly not thinking about returning to Malta. Who knows? Maybe I will write a song in Italian someday too.”

Emma launched her debut EP ‘Moments’ on Thursday and it immediately shot to the top of the iTunes album charts in Italy and Malta. The album also hit the iTunes charts in Slovenia and Switzerland, both countries in which Italian is widely spoken.
The Maltese starlet was in Rome yesterday to kick-start a tour across Italy to promote her EP amongst her fans. Footage uploaded to Instagram shows several young fans screaming in delight as soon as they saw Emma and singing along to her track ‘I Need Somebody’.
