Legendary Maltese footballer Carmel Busuttil absolutely dominated local football from the mid 1980s all the way up to the year 2000. Affectionately known as Bużu, the Maltese star scored a grand total of 213 goals throughout his career…. and he’s now set to make a return to the pitch for one night only!
This Sunday, Busuttil will be joining a couple of other Valletta FC former stars for an exciting exhibition match against Manchester Reds Legends XI, a team entirely made up of former international football stars who played with Manchester United between 1971 and 2008.
Beyond scoring over 200 goals – 23 of which were scored for Malta’s Natioanl Team – Busuttil also spent four years as Captain at Belgian football club K.R.C. Genk. He finished as the Belgian club’s top-scorer for three years, going on to win three Premier Leagues, two Maltese Cups and four Maltese Super Cups back home.
Il-Bużu doing what he does best… getting on the score sheet
