David Walliams Is Back With For A Book Show At Manoel Theatre

British comedian and beloved children’s author David Walliams is back with the Mediterrane Film Festival for a live book show this weekend.
The David Walliams Book Show will be held live on Saturday 28th June at 10.30am at Valletta’s Manoel Theatre.
The entrance tickets are €5 with all proceeds going to Puttinu Cares.
This forms part of the third edition of the Mediterrane Film Festival.
This isn’t the first time Walliams has come to Malta on invitation by the Film Commission. However, his visits have been shrouded in controversy.
In February 2024, it was revealed that Walliams’ hosting of the 2022 Malta Film Awards cost the country €120,000 – 30% of the Film Awards’ original budget of €400,000. That amount eventually ballooned up to €1.3 million. This revelation came after a two-year legal battle and rejected Freedom of Information (FOI) requests.
When asked about the controversy during a recent visit, Walliams simply said: “I mean, I have no idea about that.”
Meanwhile, last year, Walliams starred in a 10-minute promo clip for the Mediterrane Film Festival that cost the country far more than €500,000. Walliams acted alongside Malta’s very own Film Commissioner – Johann Grech – who garnered plenty criticism for ditching local talent.
