Five Inspirational Maltese Women Honoured In Adorable Initiative For International Women’s Day
Five of Malta’s most influential young women were honoured in an event at Ta’ Qali to commemorate International Women’s Day 2018.
“This year’s IWD campaign is all about #PressforProgress; we believe that this tagline speaks true to these five unique, special ladies, who are all inspirational, determined and radiate infectious positivity,” said Liża Mallia of Nissan Motors.
“We decided to plant an indigenous tree in their each of their honours to not only symbolise the growth and betterment every influential woman like them brings to our society, but to also support our environment for future generations to come!”
The corporation wanted to celebrate inspirational and empowering up-and-coming women on the island and have planted five trees in their name in Ta’ Qali.
The five women chosen come from various fields, but all have something in common: they are inspirational.
Yasmin Kuymizakis was chosen for her work in the Malta Sound Women Network and for giving young girls a chance to try out electronic music production.
Tamara Webb‘s use of her platform as an influencer has inspired so many other people with strong messages of body positivity and motivational outlooks on life, encouraging them to look beyond social constructs.
Yazmin Zammit Stevens was named Malta’s Sportswoman of the year 2017 and is also the first Maltese female weightlifter to compete at the European Championships and at the Universiade, as well as the first Maltese woman to win individual gold medals at an international weightlifting event.
Maria Formosa was included due to her tremendous philanthropic work for ALS Malta and Dar Bjorn and for her strength and incredible dedication she has shown by her husband’s side.
And Sara Ezabe was featured in Forbe’s ’30 under 30′ policy and law list and has advocated for change and campaigned in favour of social inclusion with RedefiningUs.
