Maltese Artist Lauren Aquilina Hints At Return To Music And Her Fans Are Freaking Out

Lauren Aquilina has just dropped a bombshell on her fans. The half-Maltese artist who shot to ‘cult’ fame for her deep lyrics and haunting voice had last year announced stepping away from the limelight and quitting music, citing mental health as the main cause.
But yesterday evening Aquilina tweeted three simple words that sparked chaos; “I’m coming back.”
i’m coming back.

Given the date the tweet was sent out (April 1st) many fans were in two minds about the whole situation; half online-screaming at the idea of their favorite artist returning, the other half begging her to tell them it’s not an April Fools joke.
If it does turn out to be an actual prank, Aquilina went the extra mile to make it convincing as she even posted a screenshot of her tweet to her Instagram story.

Aquilina first gained popularity with the release of her first single, Fools. The song soon became a hit locally and her first EP received extremely positive reviews. After being signed to a music agency Aquilina released her first, and last, full album.
“When I realised what a negative impact my career was having on my mental health, I realised something needed to change,” she wrote on Facebook shortly after the album’s release in 2016.
“I’m so lucky to have had some incredible experiences whilst being a full time artist, but unfortunately for me, the cons now outweigh the pros and I’ve been pretty unhappy for a long time.”
