Malta’s cocktail king Eddie Bonello was lucky enough to serve Isle of MTV star Bebe Rexha last night at Valletta seafood hotspot Capo Crudo.
The star is due to perform at tonight’s HUGE Isle of MTV concert at the Granaries in Floriana. Bonello, of Molecular Fusion fame, was on hand to wow the starlet and her friends with his showstopping cocktail: the Sub-Zero Iceberg.
The drink makes use of liquid nitrogen, held at a temperature of -196°C. When added to the glass, the gas instantly freezes the blend of Grey Goose, Blue Curacao, fresh lime and pineapple juice solid.
After serving the drink, Bonello asks the singer’s friend to tip the glass over. When she does, the magic happens and a table of dropped jaws makes for a very happy mixologist.
The cocktail master then proceeded to entertain the party with a mind game.
Bonello asks Rexha to channel her positive chakras into a single finger and place that finger into a bowl of pepper suspended in water, which is supposed to make the spice disperse. The singer tries and fails to get the reaction, so her friends all have a go. One of them manages to see a little bit of magic happen, which further fuels Bebe’s fire to try make things work.
Bonello finally pulls the facade by asking Keith Seychell (owner of Capo Crudo) to join him at the head of the table and channel their own good vibes into him. He then places a single, gloved, finger into the bowl and the girls all marvel as the pepper responds by shooting off to the rim of the bowl.
Capo Crudo and Molecular Fusion work hand in hand with each other. Adding a global superstar like Bebe Rexha to their list of VIP patrons is sure to be a big rung in Eddie’s ladder.
