Meryl Streep And Antonio Banderas To Feature In Blockbuster Panama Papers Thriller
The Laundromat, a feature length drama-thriller on the Panama Papers leak, is set to feature some of the biggest stars in the world. Meryl Streep has already been confirmed for a major role, and actors Gary Oldman and Antonio Banderas are in early talks to join the cast.
Renowned director Steven Soderbergh will be at the helm of the film, which is based on the Jake Bernstein book ‘Secrecy World: Inside the Panama Papers Investigation of Illicit Money Networks and the Global Elite’.
While details of the newly announce feature are scarce, it is being reported that Netflix is already eying the film up for distribution. The script was written by Scott Burns, and will be produced by Michael Sugar, Lawrence Grey, Gregory Jacobs, Steven Soderbergh and Scott Burns.

Meryl Streep is slated to have an emotional role in the story, but no other details about who she will be playing have been released.
The story will revolve around the money-funnelling habits of the global elite that were exposed in the Panama Papers leak. The names of clients belonging to the Panamaian law firm Mossack Fonseca were released, with thunderous consequences around the world.
Assassinated Maltese investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia is briefly mentioned in Jake Bernstein’s book, though there is no indication that Malta or Ms Caruana Galizia, who worked on stories central to the Panama Papers leak, will be featured in the film.
Ms Caruana Galizia’s son, Matthew Caruana Galizia, was part of the Pulitzer-winning team of journalists and data miners that released the Panama Paper revelations.
Minister for Tourism Konrad Mizzi was found to have a company based in the notorious country, as well as OPM Chief of Staff Keith Schembri, revelations that haunt them till this day.
